Downtown Iowa City is so full of life and color, which perfectly suited Ella’s personality for this recent senior session. We found some unique murals, rustic buildings, and quaint little patio settings around each corner. Ella knew exactly how to balance her sweet and sassy sides to make each of these backdrops work for her one outfit change after another. Between the vibrant solid colors, a little bit of texture, and flattering silhouettes, Ella really nailed all of her outfits. Each one perfectly complimented the various backgrounds we found while really highlighting her beautiful features. Also, can we just talk about her eyelashes for a second?! She has incredible lashes for days and goodness do they make her eyes pop! It must be that secret combination of various mascaras she was telling us about! 

After the bustling city photos, we went to a new (to me!) area in Iowa City. Harvest Preserve is in the northeast corner of Iowa City and it has 100 acres full of that beautiful Iowa landscape we all love. The Harvest Preserve Foundation is a non-profit organization which has dedicated their efforts to restoring and maintaining native Iowa prairies and woodlands while also preserving healthy aquaculture and cultivating public appreciation for nature. It truly is a place where people can go to indulge in the awe and wonder of nature.

While at the preserve, we found beautiful hydrangeas in full bloom, tall prairie grasses, and a pond lined with bold rocks that were made for walking along barefoot. This area was perfect for big smiles but also very serene that it suited the more serious looks. Ella even shared a few of her gymnastic jumps with us in that beautiful blue dress thanks to her mom’s suggestion! We worked through the heat but Ella was flexible and didn’t let it put a damper on her session one bit. Enjoy a few of my favorites from her session!
