Senior Spotlight 2024: Ashlyn Pitcher
The sound of a waterfall and soft guitar music made this session with Ashlyn so beautiful right from the get go. And I know what you’re thinking… really Tracy, a waterfall in Iowa?! Well it was a man-made waterfall near the hotel at the Iowa River Landing in Iowa City but still! A waterfall is a waterfall and it set the scene perfectly for my senior session with Ashlyn. I’ve had the honor of photographing Ashlyn’s older sister as well and she was kind enough to tag along for this session too. I loved her creative ideas and she seemed to really know what Ashlyn would be comfortable with and willing to do. It’s great to see a big sister’s love shine through on her little sister’s special day!
Ashlyn opted to split her senior experience into two sessions so she had a summer one and we’ll reconnect again in a few months when everyone’s favorite fall colors start to come out. But for now, we made the most of our brief time together especially because we had a perfect summer day that wasn’t too hot or too humid at all! Ashlyn kept things simple and classic with her jeans, bib overalls, and various solid neutral tops. I loved that each top had different character to it by adding in some ruffles, ribbing, and more which looked amazing when she would strike a pose!
I always ask my clients what their interests are because I love to incorporate that into their photo session if possible to really make their photos feel more personalized. It is typically something sports related which is great but once in a while, my seniors really wow me with a different kind of special talent. And did Ashlyn ever wow me with her guitar! It was so fun as she strummed along and played beautiful music. I could tell she was in the groove as I was getting some great pictures of her. I hope you enjoy these favorites of mine from her session and come back in the fall for more sneak peeks after we get together again!
Ashlyn - I could have listened to you play guitar and hum along all night long! I can’t wait for the second half of our session together in October!
